Backstage Luxury Loft is an extraordinary five-bedroom residence that seamlessly combines cutting-edge design with the timeless character of a traditional Valais barn. Created by renowned Zermatt architect and designer Heinz Julen, this exceptional 600m² property showcases his signature blend of contemporary architecture, handcrafted furnishings and authentic alpine materials. Every piece of furniture has been designed and made in Heinz Julen’s own workshop, while carefully selected contemporary artworks from Zermatt’s artistic community add character throughout the chalet. The result is a unique mountain retreat where striking modern design sits effortlessly alongside centuries-old alpine heritage.

Located on Bacherstrasse, just a four-minute walk from the Matterhorn Express and within easy reach of Zermatt’s shops, restaurants and village centre, the loft enjoys an enviable position with spectacular views of the Matterhorn. Expansive open-plan living spaces have been designed for both entertaining and relaxation, with soaring ceilings, vast windows and a welcoming open fireplace creating a warm and inviting atmosphere despite the property’s impressive scale. A spacious dining area comfortably seats up to twelve guests, while generous lounge areas provide the perfect place to unwind after a day in the mountains.

The fully equipped contemporary kitchen has everything required for preparing anything from a leisurely breakfast to a gourmet dinner, whether you choose a fully catered stay, breakfast-only service or complete independence with a self-catered holiday. The loft is available with three service options, including fully catered during the winter season, allowing guests to tailor their stay to their individual preferences.

The accommodation sleeps up to ten guests across five beautifully appointed double bedrooms, each featuring its own television, Wi-Fi and luxurious en-suite shower room. Every bedroom has been individually designed to combine comfort with Heinz Julen’s distinctive architectural style.

On the top floor are two elegant king-size bedrooms tucked beneath the roofline, each offering a peaceful and private retreat. Both bedrooms benefit from stylish en-suite shower rooms, while one can also be configured as a twin room, making it ideal for friends or children travelling together.

The entrance floor features a further spacious king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room and private balcony, providing a wonderful place to enjoy the fresh mountain air. This bedroom can also be arranged as a twin room to offer greater flexibility for different group arrangements.

On the ground floor are two particularly distinctive bedrooms. The first is a beautifully appointed king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room and direct access onto the terrace, allowing guests to step straight outside to enjoy the alpine surroundings. The second is a unique duplex king-size suite set within the property’s authentic historic Valais barn. Rich in character, this remarkable bedroom combines original architectural features with luxurious contemporary finishes and benefits from its own en-suite shower room, terrace access and a separate private entrance if desired, making it ideal for guests seeking additional privacy.

Dedicated wellness facilities occupy much of the ground floor and create a private spa experience within the chalet itself. Guests can enjoy an indoor and outdoor Jacuzzi with magnificent Matterhorn views, a traditional sauna, a relaxing hammam and a fully equipped fitness area. A separate guest WC adds convenience, while guests also enjoy complimentary access to the themed Genesis wellness area at the neighbouring Backstage Hotel.

The lower ground floor has been thoughtfully designed for both entertainment and practicality. A comfortable home cinema and TV room with kitchenette provides an additional living space for families and groups, while the gym, guest shower room and WC offer further convenience. Skiers will appreciate the dedicated ski room complete with heated boot dryers, and a separate staff area ensures discreet service throughout your stay.
